SHORTMETRAJE presents a series of short
films and videos by Spain's next wave of independent filmmakers.
The first series in New York to bring over 28 films from Spain's
burgeoning community.
Contemporary Spanish cinema has captivated international audiences
for its unique combination of entertaining melodrama, dry wit and
sumptuous aesthetics.
SHORTMETRAJE takes us into this world by highlighting the diversity
and artistic innovations of Spain's emerging makers, a group set
apart by their willingness to take to boldly take risks and push
the limits of their country's cinematic traditions.
From experimental to animation, from documentary to narrative, these
workspresent a sample of the country's current trends in film and
storytelling through four unique programs.
A series not to be missed.

Marta Sanchez--Executive
Director
Marta Sanchez studied Communications in Universidad Complutense
de Madrid
majoring in Audiovisual Direction.
She was awarded a scholarship which was granted by the European
Community to study TV Direction in CEMTAV, Spain.
She produced and directed a number of short films, TV programs and
music videos as well as working as the liaison between the Spanish
and English offices for Nemesis, a music video production company
based in London.
After two and a half years of working for Twentieth Century Fox
Home Entertainment as Distribution Manager, she moved to NYC to
study Business of Entertainment at NYU. Currently, she is the Distribution
and Promotions Coordinator at Women Make Movies where she is responsible
for festival, theatrical and semi-theatrical exhibition.
In addition, Sanchez curating a number of events and is also finishing
her short film, "Farewell Party", a story of escapism
and human nature.
Nieves Prieto--Executive Producer
Born in April 1972, Nieves studied Fine Arts in her hometown at
the University of Barcelona. In 1999 she moved to New York, where
she worked for the MoMA at the Photography Department and the Guggenheim
Museum, at the Film and Video Production Department.
She later obtained a Masters Degree at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications
Program. She has since exhibited her video and photographic work
in Paris, Seoul, Philadelphia and NYC, and was the coordinator of
the Loisaida Cortos Latino Festival, initiative promoting young
Latino filmmakers.
She is currently the Coordinator of Shortmetraje.
Xochitl Dorsey--Editor
Xochitl Dorsey is currently Marketing Manager of Women Make Movies,
a New
York film distributor dedicated to the promotion of films by and
about women.
She received her Masters Degree in Latin American Studies and Museum
Studies
from New York University, and has worked for several prestigious
media arts
organizations, including Rhizome.org and the New Museum of Contemporary
Art.
She curated and co-organized various film events, including "Super
Super 8
2002 Mexico Tour," a traveling film festival of experimental
shorts, "Reality
to Be" New Latino Filmmakers at the Anthology Film Archives,
and the NYU
Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Film Series.
She was guest speaker at the American Association of Museum and
the Tulipanes Latino Arts & Film Festival, and has published
works in Women's Studies Quarterly and the Cinema Tropical newsletter.
MARCOS SOLARI--Web Design and Programing
He is an uruguayan web designer, currently pursuing an MPS in the
Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU.

Is a New York based visual communicator, focused on the intersection
of art & technology.
